This was my 4th Burning Man and this was the first time I didn’t have an RV of some kind. I liked the idea of the hexayurts but didn’t need that much room and wanted to be different so I designed and built a “hotel” to match the theme of out houses. While the hotel was dust-proof as I wanted, I wasn’t able to achieve all the benefits of a hexayurt because:
There wasn’t enough surface area to keep it cool without the swamp coolers.
I painted it red to get the “hotel” vibe but lost the reflective power of the insulation.
I used incredibly good filters to keep the dust out that immediately clogged and limited airflow to next to nothing.
It turns out my fridge radiates heat from the sides as well as the cooling unit so I started with a sauna before I cut a hole in the side for the fridge.
I got everything working well after a couple of days but it turns out that a 17 hour drive followed by 6 days on an air mattress was too much for my poor back and I had to leave earlier than expected.
Here’s the 2012 pics:

Anubis. See the people in his head?
This piece told your fortune for the next year but was too complicated to figure that part out. It did spin in two directions and changed color which was very cool!
This was inside the man. Look closely, there are no bolts or nails holding this piece together. Amazing! Look how detailed it is and how many people are crawling and jumping on it.
View from the man. I was gifted a snow-cone from that line later in the day

I am going to try and build one of these benches to remember the best Temple I ever saw.
I was a little better at remembering to turn on the GPS during my travels in black rock city and recorded 21 miles over 3 days and 11 hours. This was probably about 60% of my adventures.
