Maracas Beach, Trinidad

We spent two nights in Maracas Beach on the north side of the island. The drive down here was a little scary. More twists than the Road to Hana and the road was very narrow only allowed 1 to 1.5 cars on at a time. Twice we came around a blind bend in the road […]

House of Angostura and Port of Spain Tour in Trinidad

I was really really looking forward to the Angostura tour. In the end it was alright. We weren’t allowed to take pictures of the bottling area or the distillery area. So that left the butterfly exhibit. Long story short, Angostura moved from Venezuela to Trinidad way back when, made bitters, bought out a rum distiller,

Trinidad – San Fernando Tour

While Chris was working, I went on a tour of San Fernando and the surrounding area. There was some overlap between this tour and the Central Experience tour, but I still managed to see a lot. My guide was frank with me and told me that this was the first time he had done the

Trinidad and Tobago – Port of Spain

We stayed the night in Port of Spain before heading down to San Fernando for Chris’ work. Our hostess, Pearl told us where to find some great food at Queen’s Park Savannah. There is a daily market with food vendors. I had a cup of famous Trinidadian corn soup and some (meh) soursop ice cream.

Hidden Caverns, NY

I found this tourist trap on Atlas Obscura – Curious and Wondrous Travel Destinations. The signs were fantastic, but the cavern itself was under-whelming. The best part for me was watching all the Asian tourists walk through taking pictures and touching everything, contrary to everything I’ve ever heard at a cavern. Here are the pics;

Victoria and Nanaimo, B.C. Sept. 15-17, 2017

Chris and I went up to Vancouver Island, B.C. to see his Aunt Sue and Uncle Dave’s new home in Nanaimo. We took the ferry that we meant to take 12 years ago with our fifth-wheel but ended up chickening out because it would’ve been $500 or something. Anyway, long car and ferry ride aside,

ArtoCade 2017 Sept. 8th

We had a blast in Trinidad for the 2017 ArtoCade. This has been on our calendar for months and we weren’t sure how fabulous it was going to be so we decided to go to Santa Fe for a couple of days before hand to make a bigger trip of it. We found some great
