Riverbend RV Park, Houston, TX

Texas Chickens! Everything’s Bigger in Texas We stayed at a brand new RV park while visiting friends outside of Houston. It was so brand new that it didn’t have an office and many parts of it were still being built around us. These emus were in a field right next to the RV park. If […]

Brazos Bend State Park, Houston, TX

Here are the stars of Brazos Bend State Park. We saw some photos of some huge alligators that live here before we went. Unfortunately we didn’t see the big daddys the day we went. We did see plenty of smaller babies. They were everywhere; in the reeds sunning themselves, floating in the bayou, and sitting

Crater of Diamonds State Park, AR

There are worse ways to spend a day than to dig in the dirt and possibly get rich doing it! The Crater of Diamonds State Park is located in the southwest corner of Arkansas in the Ouchita (pronounced wa-chita) Mtns. It’s 2 miles away from Murfreesboro, AR. The “field of dreams” is spread out over

Half Moon RV Park, AR

Here are some pics of the RV park in Half Moon, AR. We were there about 1.5 weeks in May. As you can see from the pics, the park is pretty remote. It’s in the middle of farmland about 6-8 miles away from town. Look who I found the day we were to leave the

The Story of Hot Tamales in the Mississippi Delta

When we were in Memphis a few months ago I saw signs in a restaurant on Beale Street advertising that it had Hot Tamales. I thought it was strange to find that in the Mississippi Delta so far away from Mexico so I had to try them. They were the worst tamales ever. They’re wrapped

Big Lake National Wildlife Refuge, AR

We finally got to go to Big Lake National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday. I’d been looking forward to it all week. It’s 10-12 miles away from the trailer, so pretty convenient. The entire area covers about 20,000 acres of forest/marshland and water. We didn’t get to the lake until about 10:20am. Right after inflating the

Blytheville, Arkansas

Pronounced “BLY-ble” by the natives, Blytheville is located in the very northeast corner of Arkansas in the Mississippi River Delta. There is a population of about 18,200 currently in town. Chris found a trailer park close to work by calling up the city of Dell, AR and asking about local trailer parks. One of the

Rest Stop in Kansas

We frequently stop and sleep at rest stops on our way to our destination. One night on our way to Arkansas we stopped at one on the I-70 somewhere in Kansas. The next morning when I woke up and walked outside, there were all these cows looking at the trailer from the other side of

Roxborough State Park, Denver, Co

We chose a very easy 2 mile hike (on account of my cold) in Roxborough Park. The rocks and hills were amazing. The park is about 30 minutes outside of Denver and you can see the city from the park. But while you’re in the park it really seems like you’re away from it all.
